The Road Warriors wanted the top of the standings and share it with the Converge FiberXers after tonight’s final buzzer while its sister team the Tropang Giga wanted to do the same yet only one team will get its target after the exciting showdown.
Team toughness” is the magic keyword for both squads and that’s what they wanted to show to Filipino basketball fans as they clash at the main event of PBA Wednesday.
With the new head coach installed on the TNT bench but no longer brand new in the PBA, Jojo Lastimosa is able to direct his squad to a victory against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. They are down by double-digit points at the end of the second quarter during that match and they responded with a 44-35 explosion in the third quarter and completely controlled the game in the final quarter.
For coach Jolas, that was a litmus test for the team under his watch, especially against the group led by coach Yeng Guiao.
“That was one of those games where you can measure our toughness in terms of how we came back and how we defended even though we’re gassed out. So that was really a good test for us,” said Lastimosa.
For NLEX side, as long as they have Jonathon Simmons as their import the team will try to maximize his limited time of stay as the former San Antonio Spurs player is reported that he’ll fly back to China for his CBA commitments.
“That’s the deal, that’s what we agreed upon,” said Simmons.
According to NLEX head coach Frankie Lim, they’re currently one of the tough teams in the league. Apart from their prolific foreign reinforcement player their local players like Kevin Alas, Don Trollano, Sean Anthony, and Brandon Ganuela-Rosser also found their groove.
“We’re a tough team right now. I can see a lot of toughness from our players and that’s a good sign,” said Lim.
